BREAD & BUTTER LOCO (HYBRID)

Goal: The numbers and playability of this paddle are already strong out of the box so there is no need to overhaul it. The goal of this setup is to add a small boost in forgiveness while preserving the paddle’s natural plow-through and balance.

WEIGHT SETUP

What you'll need:

  • Two 2g pre cut strips
  • Overgrip

Placement:

Using 1g per inch tape we added 2 grams (two inches of tape) directly in the middle of each side.

Why this placement?

I added just enough weight to the sides to bring the twist weight up to 7 for extra stability, which ended up being 2 grams per side. I tested placing the weight lower, which achieved the same twist weight, but keeping it centered felt more natural through the swing. Lower placement shifted the balance point and didn’t move through the air as cleanly. There is a small swingweight bump, but with the static weight staying low, you feel the added forgiveness more than the added heft.

Fine tuning:

I wouldn’t add or remove weight here, but you can slide it up or down about an inch. Move it up for a heavier, more connected feel, or down for a lighter feel, while keeping the same static weight and stability gains.
